Contact - Carl Sagan An awesome and absorbing read as well as, of course, far better than the film adaptation. While it does get technical at times, the book doesn't let it become overwhelming and more than makes up for it by ideas so grand as to almost boggle the mind and wonderfully executed via dialogue (for instance, the meeting of minds between Jo Rankin and Arroway discussing about religion that doesn't dumb down one side of the issue in favor of the other). Really makes you think about what can be.
